True pilot efficiency

Post by Andrew DuLac » Sun Aug 26, 2012 19:01

Hi all. I subscribed only to promote this idea:

i always watch the killboard of the corps, of the allies and i see billion o trillions in kill. This, because one of their member shot a missile against some POSes while doing a siege. And the best part is that they take in their killboard ALL the value of the destroyed item.

In a fleet, i see people that are in killmails just because thy locked the target before it exploded, and they got the entire value of the kill in their killboard too....

I'm here to ask for a change in the calculation of ISK attributed to the player's kills. Such recalculation, if implemented, would take into account the percentage of the damage that the player has made to the enemy or to the structure and, consequently, those who shoot a missile to appear in the kill would find themselves with a value of ISK damage very low, as their participation, besides demonstrating the REAL efficiency of a pilot.

edit: it would simply be "value of the destroyed ship/structure * percentage of the damage done"

And what about kills with NPC involved ?

And how would you do for this one: I force a pirate to jump in high sec. There, he is engaged by the Police. I deliberately choose a small ship like an interceptor to catch him and let the NPC shoot him. Would you count me 0 ISK for that kill ? I was the only human involved and he would have escaped if I hadn't pointed him. I played with the rules of engagement to make that kill. Is that worth 0 ISK ?

I understand your feeling about kill whoring, and I quite dislike seeing people doing the minimum to be on the kill. But changing it your way won't consider the kind of kills I mention above.

If you really want to know a pilot value, you should consider his point rather than his ISK ratio.

The same. The npc that did the kill has his percentage of damage and you that used the npc to kill someone else didn't do all the damage. So you don't deserve the 100% of the kill.

i repeat: the same: you didn't do the damage. You pointed him. That's all.

I was thinking before post here about a sort of "assist", like a bonus percentage to attribute to the one that was tackling. But i didn't think to how much would be this bonus.

To my mind, this is already a lot and deserve some ISKs. :P

Anyway, if you want to do so, you should look at the PHP code displaying pilot statistics to modify the way destroyed ISK are added or counted from the kills he was involved in.

Your reward is loot his wreck.

I'm not a programmer. I'm here to post my idea.
