Howto: Database Update - Datadumps

Post by ryan9mm » Sun Dec 07, 2008 21:08

I started working with the killboard and installed version 361 on my website. I wanted to be able to update so I could include QR stuff and downloaded the QR data-dump file. After messing around with it for awhile I figured out how to update the MySQL tables using the data-dump files. Here is my PDF tutorial on how to do this. It has worked for me on 5 sites so let me know if this works for you.

Here's the link for the tutorial: http://www.ryan-rock.com/eveonline/Upda ... Kbdata.pdf

thnx for datadumps.... ^_^
to update i use phpmyadmin (to delete table) & dumper.php (to restore backups) ... dumper is MUCH more faster than phpmyadmin restore\backup ....

links
http://sypex.net/ (dumper.php)
http://www.phpmyadmin.net/home_page/index.php (phpmyadmin)

for somebody, maybe, will be usefull

This isn't really needed any more, since the method of updating the database has changed. The EDK has a built-in DB updater that we use to distribute updates now.
