Workaround: CREST error

Post by Salvoxia » Wed Apr 27, 2016 16:16

Hi all,

if your killboard no longer posts any kills and throws errors when trying to post, this post is for you!

With today's patch CCP combined the public and authed CREST endpoints
and consolidated the two CREST base URLs into one. The new base URL for
all CREST calls is now

Code: Select all
The old base URL got redirected to the new one, but if you use the cURL
API connection method that doesn't work.

Here's a workaround to solve this problem and still get kills posted:

Connect to your webspace, open the following file for edit:
common/includes/constants.php and find the following line of code
(around line 28):

Code: Select all

define('CREST_PUBLIC_URL', '');
Change this line to that:

Code: Select all

define('CREST_PUBLIC_URL', '');

Then open common/includes/class.crestparser.php and find the following line of code (around line 45):

Code: Select all

$urlPieces[2] != "" ||
and replace it with

Code: Select all

substr($this->crestUrl, 0, strlen(CREST_PUBLIC_URL)) != CREST_PUBLIC_URL ||
Alternative: Github Commit

To check if the workaround worked, check the Troubleshooting section in
your Admin control panel.
If it shows all green and says "Successfully connected to CREST API",
you're good.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Of course this will be fixed with the upcoming EDK update, which will be
released as soon as the database update is integrated and tested.

Best Regards,
