new host new database

Post by Dism0 » Wed Apr 19, 2017 23:25

so my old host godaddy.com was on a sql 5.0 database and my new host 1&1 has sql 5.5. ive read you cant go from 5.0 > 5.5 but you have to go 5.0 > 5.1 > 5.5. is there any easy way about this or would it be easier to just re-pull all the data from zkillboard using their api?

Hi,

I'm not sure what you mean with this. If you can export your godaddy's database and successfully import it at 1&1, you only should only have to deal with changing your killboard's URL (if you don't keep your old one). I'm not aware of any EDK related issues with updating to MySQL 5.5 (just to 5.7.5, which requires a default setting to be changed on the database side).

Best Regards,

edit im a moron. i forgot to actually select the database. derp.

im not very database savvy so i thought there was a big ordeal in moving to 5.5. once i properly selected the database in php control panel i uploaded the exported database from 5.0 right to it with no problems. :)
