I used the last version of the script, I think the 500 error might be on my server, maybe an issue with folder rights/accesses settings I don't know.

Great idea squizz. Something like this should be incorporated into the KB by default.

Just a note, script requires.

'allow_url_fopen = On' in your php config.

this is getting messy. i nearly lost sight of what is going on and what to do and which script to upload.
there is this nice update feature in the admin panel. what about the database update. why can't this whole mess just be updated with this feature. instead of this script-hack-fix-hick-hack.

squizz man i think most people who will want to run an edk will have a "crappy" web interface like cPanel. If you want this in the core it has to work for as many setups as possible.
